In our 2.5-year guided program, you’ll receive industry leading education, real salon floor experience and the mentorship you will need to grow into the best version of yourself. TIMELINE
JV Apprenticeship Timeline
PHASE 1 (1-6 MONTHS)
Foundations
- Weekly hands-on education classes
- JV culture, service flow & client care
- Product knowledge & tool mastery
- Foundational color practicals and theory
- Foundational cutting practicals and theory
- Treatments & Styling
- Shadowing senior and master stylists
- Light shampooing & prep tasks
- Basic foil placement practice
- Evaluations and Examinations

Your journey begins in phase 1 with in-depth education and shadowing. This phase is all about learning the fundamentals, understanding JV’s standards, and slowly integrating into the salon environment. You’ll observe, take notes, assist lightly, and begin building your kit of technical skills.
PHASE 2 (7-14 MONTHS)
Mastering the Techniques
- Client work using techniques from phase 1
- Precision color application & foil placement practice
- Precision haircutting practice
- One-on-one educator feedback
- Client observation & service breakdowns
- First service timing + goal tracking
- Assisting seniors and masters
- Evaluations and examinations

In phase 2, you begin applying your skills in a controlled setting. You’ll work on mannequins, models, and start assisting stylists more actively. You’ll receive feedback, practice technique repetition, and continue internal testing to gauge progress.

PHASE 3 (15-24 MONTHS)
Guided Hands-On & Mentorship
- Taking real clients (with educator guidance)
- Check-ins with mentors
- Building service speed & rhythm
- Introduced to advanced techniques
- Handling rebooks, consultations, & retail
- Client feedback + performance evaluations
- More independence when assisting seniors and masters
- Evaluations and examinations

In phase 3 you’ll begin servicing real clients under mentor supervision. This is where speed, consistency, and confidence are developed. You’ll build your book slowly, learning to balance client care, timing, and technical execution.
PHASE 4 (25-30 MONTHS)
Final Prep & Promotion
- Final testing & certification
- Building clientele
- Career pathing & goal setting
- Graduation + promotion to New Talent Stylist
- File all documents with State board of Hawaii
- File for state board testing

Phase 4 is your final phase in this phase you will be working on refinement, leadership, and transitioning into a New Talent Stylist role. You’ll complete final evaluations and examinations, work more independently, and build your brand as a professional stylist within the JV salon.

- Weekly hands on training
- Shadowing the best of the industry
- 1 on 1 education
- Thoughtfully designed 2.5 year program that progresses from foundational color and
cutting techniques into advanced color and cutting techniques - Branding education
- Portfolio development
- Certification and career placement
